Vitamin A is responsible for supporting vision, skin growth and healing. Vitamin C helps your body fight against free radicals, which damage cells and cause signs of aging and Vitamin D is vital for strong bones and teeth. Read more to learn details on how each of these vitamins benefits your body.

Vitamin A

Vitamin A is important for vision, bone development, reproductive health, growth, cell development and maintenance. It is also vital in immune function because of its anti-inflammatory benefits. The two forms of vitamin A are retinol and beta carotene. Beta carotene is the plant form of vitamin A. One large carrot contains about 60 mg of beta carotene, which can be converted to one microgram of retinol. Retinol is the animal form of vitamin A, found in foods such as liver, fish oil and egg yolk. The body produces retinol from beta carotene as needed. Vitamin A deficiency can cause night blindness and dry eyes as well as skin problems such as rough skin and scaly skin lesions. Vitamin A helps the skin renew itself faster, so wounds heal faster as well as protects against sunburn and skin cancer.

Vitamin C

Vitamin C is an antioxidant. It neutralizes free radicals, which are highly reactive molecules created during the process of metabolism. Free radicals serve the purpose of cleansing the body of toxic substances through oxidation, but when there are too many, they damage cells by causing oxidation in healthy cells. Antioxidants fight against this process. Vitamin C helps to protect cells from free radical damage. It has been shown to reduce risks of cancer, cardiovascular disease and even the common cold. High levels of Vitamin C have also been shown to protect DNA from damage caused by radiation therapy and toxins like cigarette smoke.

Does Vitamin C Speed Up COVID-19 Recovery?

Vitamin C is commonly used in Covid-19 protocols to shorten the duration of symptoms. Organizations that Dr. Bailey works with include Vitamin C supplementation in their Covid-19 recovery treatments.  Recent studies show an IV treatment of Vitamin C may help reduce ICU admittance, the use of ventilators, and the risk of death associated with lung and respiratory infections; but the evidence is not yet conclusive. Vitamin C has long been used to boost the immune system and fight viral infections. Evolved Minerals provides your body with immune boosting nutrients to help your immune system work it’s best.

Vitamin D

Vitamin D is the only vitamin you get from absorbing light from the sun. It’s made by our own bodies when we’re exposed to the sun’s ultraviolet rays.  However, most of us do not spend enough time outdoors to get enough natural sun exposure that will give us the Vitamin D we need. Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin, which means it dissolves in fats and oils. It supports healthy bones, a more robust immune system, nervous system, and heart health. Research also shows Vitamin D assists with lowering blood sugar levels in people who have Type 2 Diabetes. Several studies even indicate adequate levels of Vitamin D may prevent some types of cancer. This is one essential vitamin.

Does Vitamin D Help Prevent Severe COVID-19 Symptoms?

Vitamin D supplementation is being used in Covid-19 response in hospitals around the world and Dr. Bailey has seen the positive effects of the treatment first-hand. In a cohort study, those who had insufficient levels of Vitamin D were at an increased risk for Covid-19 infections.  Vitamin D helps prevent severe symptoms of Covid-19 and other respiratory illnesses by changing how your immune system works. It stops some white blood cells that your body makes from growing too much. It also helps slow down others to prevent the production of inflammatory cytokines which can cause severe Covid-19 symptoms. It is a good idea to increase your body’s immunity before getting sick and Evolved Minerals helps you do just that.

B Vitamins

B vitamins are a category of their own. They are vital to various functions and are water-soluble, so they aren’t stored in the body after ingestion and need to be replenished regularly through a healthy diet supplemented by Evolved Minerals. B vitamins are more than just energy metabolism nutrients; they also help your brain function properly. Some also aid your immune system, your cardiovascular system, your red blood cell production and more.

Thiamin

Thiamin is one of many vitamins that are chemical cousins to adenosine triphosphate, or ATP. ATP powers all living cells. It acts like a battery to give energy to the things that need it, like muscles. Thiamin helps make ATP by working with enzymes inside cells. It also helps the body break down carbohydrates. If you don’t have enough thiamin, your body can’t make ATP and you will get tired and weak.

Riboflavin

Riboflavin is necessary for cell growth and red blood cell formation, which assists in carrying oxygen throughout the body. Many of the cereals on the market today are fortified with riboflavin. You can also find riboflavin in organ meats, eggs, and green vegetables like broccoli and spinach.

Niacin

Niacin (vitamin B3), although not essential, is the most abundant of the B-complex vitamins. It helps in blood sugar regulation and can help lower cholesterol. A form of niacin called nicotinic acid is primarily used for lowering cholesterol, while another form of niacin called nicotinamide may be used for conditions such as epilepsy, depression, schizophrenia, Alzheimer’s disease, dementia and Parkinson’s disease. Niacin is also used to treat chronic skin diseases such as dermatitis, eczema or psoriasis.

B6

Are you dealing with mood swings? B6 has been shown in some studies to help with mood regulation by aiding in creating neurotransmitters in the brain. It may help with depression, anxiety and reduce the risk of Alzheimer’s Disease. B6 is the only macronutrient that is required by humans but not by any other animal. No other animal has to get B6 from its diet, because all other animals are able to make their own supply

Folate

Folate has long been known for its benefits to pregnant women and women planning to become pregnant, but it also has benefits for all. This B Vitamin is essential in forming the red blood cells that carry oxygen throughout your body. Supplementation of Folate may boost sperm count, according to some studies.

B-12

Vitamin B-12 offers several benefits, including protection of nerves and the nervous system. Supplementation can prevent or help in relieving peripheral neuropathy. B-12 deficiency can lead to anemia which can cause severe fatigue. Studies show B-12 also supports healthy cognitive function.

Biotin

Full, luxurious hair is a reason many people supplement their Biotin intake. This vitamin stimulates keratin production, which supports hair and nail growth. Like other B vitamins, it also is vital to energy metabolism, and it helps carry nutrients throughout the body. Studies also show that biotin may also help with the management of blood sugar levels.

Pantothenic Acid

Pantothenic means “from everywhere,” which describes how common this vitamin is in various foods we eat. It’s also an essential vitamin for the formation of cells and the conversion of carbohydrates and lipids into energy. The Paul Linus Institute’s Micronutrient Information Center states that research shows Pantothenic Acid may improve wound healing results. If you’re interested in giving your body the nutrients it needs in a form it can use, Dr. Bailey’s Evolved Minerals covers the foundational elements of good nutrition. Evolved Minerals brings overarching support for the most common gaps in nutrition.
